Pag cheese

Pag cheese is an excellent gastronomic specialty well known and appreciated product of the tradition of the island of Pag. From the times of the ancient Liburnurnians until today, generations have been enjoying it. The quality of this cheese stands mostly in medicinal and aromatic herbs, as well as in natural sea salt. The cheese is produced on the whole island of Pag but the central part of the island, around Kolan, Mandre and ©imuni, has the longest tradition of breeding sheep. The cheese of the highest quality is the one made in May when these parts are covered in beautiful flowers of sage and other medicinal and fragrant herbs. Ricotta is also well respected - it is a kind of a cheese that can be used for making delicious cakes.
